Stay #2: Forrest Farm Salmo.
Amanda & Ewan, owners of Forrest Farm in Salmo BC, accepted to host us on their 8 acre property for a bit, in exchange for some help in the farm. What was supposed to be a one-week stay got extended to a two-weeks stay because they are awesome and we really enjoyed our time here!
They have goats, chickens, sheep, geese, turkeys, pigs, quail and ducks, as well as a big vegetable garden. All of their animals are pasture raised and very well cared for.
Every Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., you can find Amanda at the Cottonwood Market in Nelson. And on Saturdays, they have their own little market stand open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1244 Airport Rd in Salmo. You will be able to get from them eggs (both quail and chicken), meat (pork, lamb, goat and poultry), vegetables, wool, goat milk soap and shampoo, natural deodorant and toothpaste.
They are really hard working people and they deserve all the love so if you ever find yourself in the area, please make sure you give them a shout and go meet them! Now more than ever, we need to support local businesses instead of big corporations.
Thanks again Amanda and Ewan!
