A day in Grand Forks, BC.
While staying for almost a week at Christina Lake, we took the opportunity to visit Grand Forks for a day since it is only a 15 minutes drive.
Our first stop was the Gallery 2 situated on Central Avenue -which is also the highway by the way. It's a public art gallery featuring engaging contemporary art exhibitions, which doubles as a Visitor Centre. The admission to the gallery is free, though donations are welcome. The current exhibitions were Fine Line: Check Check by Ian Johnson, Observer, Observed by Meghan Krauss, and works from the permanent collection Iconic Places, Artistic Traces.
Luckily, it was Friday, one of the Farmers' Market day!! A few local farmers and lots of local artisans/crafters were set up! We bought some fresh veggies and also a little wooden truck for Elijah by JR's Wood Hut.
We then decided to go to The Wooden Spoon Bistro for lunch. And we were not disappointed! The food was just amazing, made with fresh local products. Side note, I took The Subi Salad and Adrien tried The Honky Tonk, both were delicious. If I lived in Grand Forks, I would definitely eat there a lot! Highly recommend you give it a try!
Afterwards, we headed to the Municipal Park for a stroll, which is right by the Kettle River. Of course, we had to stop at the playground for Elijah. A great way to digest and enjoy the nice weather before going back to the trailer for a much needed nap.
But we couldn't leave before checking out Marvelous Munchies Bakeshop. Oh my, so many goodies! Definitely a must stop if you like delicious bakes. We went nuts for the donuts -pun intended- and everything was so yummy! Adrien got the Maple Bacon Donut and the Raspberry Lemon Cream Cheese Bismark, and I got the more classical Belgium Chocolate Donut and the Raspberry Bismark. We were full until supper time!
It was a great day, and the people in Grand Forks are very welcoming!
